Itinerary

Day 1: Bangkok arrival

Upon arrival at the international airport in Bangkok and after clearing immigration and customs with a welcome signboard and transfer to your hotel in the downtown for check-in and overnight in Bangkok.

Day 2: Bangkok full day city tour with Emerald Buddha Temple, Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun (B/L/-)

After breakfast, start your visit to Wat Phra Keo, the beautiful Emerald Buddha temple, the exquisite temple contains an image of Buddha carved from a single piece of jade and one of the most holy and revered of religious objects in Thailand, then head to the Grand Palace, the spectacular Royal Palace with intricate architectures, an area of 218,400 sq. meters and is surrounded by walls built in 1782. The length of the four walls is 1,900 meters. The Grand Palace is one of the most beautiful samples of an ancient Siamese court with a complex of the Funeral Palace, the Reception Palace, the Throne Hall, the Coronation Hall, and the Royal Guest House.

Continue exploring Wat Pho – the Reclining Buddha temple, the oldest and biggest temple with the largest number of pagodas (95 in all) in the city well known for its huge Reclining Buddha. Also, it was the first open university of Thailand which offered courses in several branches of knowledge like literature, astrology, medicine and massage. Lunch is at a local restaurant.

This afternoon, take a long-tailed boat along the Chao Phraya River to see Thai lifestyle, contrast between luxurious condominiums and ruined houses along both sides of the canal. Pass the Grand Palace and the Royal Barge Museum which houses ceremonial King’s Barges decorated with multi-color glasses, gilt and stuccos. Disembark at Wat Arun – the temple of Dawn to visit the tallest prang in Thailand. It was built in the concept of Mount Meru, the resident of God located on the center of the Universe. Day 3: Bangkok – “Railway market” and Damnoen Saduak floating market (B/L/-)

This morning at around 06:45 (to avoid crowds and in time for the Meaklong Railway Market), drive about 104km ~2hours to visit Damnoen Saduak Floating Market with stop en-route to visit an unusual market: Market on the Railway Tracks or an off beaten tour in Thailand’s Maeklong Railway Market.

Upon arrival, take a private long tailed boat ride to navigate your way through the Floating Market along the canals. The canal twists and turns around a plantation surrounded by greenery, that gives you a chance to view native life along the canal banks and at the market where boats of various shapes and size, carry goods for trading you can admire the sight of smiling vendors selling colorful products such as tropical fruits, vegetables, flowers and food on wooden boats. At the market, you may taste some local food if interested. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel at around 15:30 for refreshment.

This evening, take an amazing night tour to see nightlife of Bangkok with Skytrain experience and enjoy magnificent views from the skyscraper. Enjoy eating delicious food at a local restaurant (your own account). All transports are local. Overnight in Bangkok

 

Day 4: Bangkok – Morning fly to Chiang Rai – Chiang Rai city tour with Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Phra Singha, Rai Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Centre (B/-/-)

Today take the morning flight to Chiang Rai. Upon arrival, meet with your guide and be taken to the hotel in Chiang Rai downtown for check-in and fresh-up.

This afternoon, drive around Chiang Rai City and visit the world famous temple complex of Wat Phra Kaew located on Thanon Trairat that houses the Emerald Buddha. Though not stupendous in size, it is an important symbol of Thai people. Wat Phra Kaew was appointed the First Royal Temple of Chiang Rai on 31 May 1978.

After that visit Wat Phra Singha – one of Thailand’s most beautiful Buddha images. Then visit Rai Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Centre and the Centre of Lanna Studies in Chiang Rai, the foundation striving to preserve the atmosphere and natural landscape in which the cultural arts of the ancient northern Thai kingdom (Lanna) were nurtured. Day 5: Chiang Rai full day tour with Mae Sai border, Golden Triangle, Chiang Saen and Hall of Opium (B/L/-)

After breakfast, get on an exciting excursion to Mae Sai – the border of Thai and Burma for a visit to Tha Chilek. After finishing formalities, cross the Sai River into Tha Chilek – Burma border town where you can witness local Burmese life nearby village. Take a tricycle ride to explore Tha Chilek with its Shan-style temple. Then ride around the town through lanes and side streets, ending at the local market, famous for products from Southern China, Laos and Burma and spend a couple of hours. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

This afternoon, continue the visit to The Golden Triangle overlooking The Mae Khong River. Then drive to Chiang Saen for a visit to the 14th century ruins before returning to your hotel with a stop en route to visit the Hall of Opium – an insightful museum focusing on the history of the Golden Triangle and the opium trade. A multi-million dollar museum in the sleepy village of Baan Sop Rusk is providing an in-depth look at the history of the area’s association with opium. Overnight in Chiang Rai

Day 6: Chiang Rai half day tour with Hilltribe Vilalge and Wat Long Khoom – Afternoon route to Chiang Mai (B/L/-)

After breakfast, check out your hotel and meet up with your guide and drive to the Baan Yapa Hilltribe Village where you have a chance to visit Long-necked Karen Tribe, Lahu Tribe, Pa Long Hill-Tribe, Akha and Yao Hill Tribe….Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

This afternoon, enjoy a scenic drive for 3-hours to Chiang Mai with stops en route for a visit to Wat Long Khoom and opportunities to take photos and meet with locals for interaction. On arrival, transfer to hotel in Chiang Mai downtown for check-in and overnight in Chiang Mai.

Day 7: Chiang Mai – Patara Elephant Farm (Full day) (B/L/-)

After early breakfast, pick up and depart to the Patara Elephant Farm & take part in tour “Elephant Owner For A Day”. On arrival, you will make registration, and then get change to our training outfit, prepare for the training.

Afterwards, you will learn how to hike, track and approach your elephant in the bush, unchain the elephant, walk, feed, bath and brush your elephant in the river. You will be trained to ride on the elephant’s neck using many different techniques with spoken commands for the elephant. Set out on a bare-back adventure and ride to a local temple, village and waterfall. You will have an opportunity to swim with your elephant. Enjoy picnic lunch today.

Afterwards, ride the elephant back to the farm and say good bye to the mahouts and everyone. Return to your hotel for refreshment. Overnight in Chiang Mai

Day 8: Chiang Mai with leisure biking and temple tour to Wat Chiang Man, Wat Phra Singh, Wat Suan Dok and street food tour (B/L/D)

After breakfast, meet with your guide and drive to a meeting point where you will have a short safety briefing, then hop on your bike and leave out on the streets of downtown Chiang Mai. Traffic is light around that time as you begin your journey south, following the Ping River downstream. The ride is pleasant and green due to the proximity of the river. You also ride past various fruit orchards and encounter the Thai way of life as you weave your way through villages and farmland on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. Return to the downtown for having lunch at a local restaurant.

This afternoon, further our visit to some famous temples: Wat Chiang Man – the first temple built in Chiang Mai around 1300 AD built by the founder of the city 700 years ago, King Mengrai, on the spot where he stayed while planning his new capital; Wat Phra Singh founded in the 14th century to enshrine the ashes of King Kam Fu has the most complete version of Lanna chapel and is home to Phra Buddha Singh, considered Chiang Mai’s most important and sacred Buddha image; Wat Suan Dok has the north’s largest chapel royal. The temple was built by King Keu Na of Lanna for a revered priest visiting from Sukhothai as a place for the monk to spend the rains retreat. The principal Buddha statue is a huge cast image named Phra Chao Kao Tu.

After that, walk with your guide through the cuisine streets at local food markets where you will be introduced to local Thai foods. You will encounter some small restaurants or food stalls/carts, have a chance to see the chefs using local ingredients/spices to cook their special spicy Thai foods for their customers. You may interact with the chefs with lots of Q&As. Tasting some of the local street foods for your dinner is an interesting experience!. Day 9: Chiang Mai half day tour with Doi Suthep and Phu Ping Palace – Afternoon fly to Phu Ket (B/L/-)

After breakfast, check out yourn hotel and drive up Doi (Mount) Suthep to visit Wat Phrathad Doi Suthep built in 1383 on Doi Suthep (3500 feet above sea – level), is the symbol of Chiangmai. It is the most sacred temple in the city and contains the holy relic of the Lord Buddha which is enshrined in the magnificent golden pagoda with a challenging flight of over 300 steps, flanked by enormous mythological Nagas. A panoramic view of the city and the surrounding countryside can be seen from the temple grounds. Continue to visit Phu Ping Palace, their Majesties’ Winter Palace (4000 feet above sea level), 4 km beyond Wat Phra That Doi Suthep on Doi Buak Ha. This royal winter palace was built in 1962 with the lavishly landscaped gardens and grounds.

Return to the downtown for having lunch before transferring to the airport for your afternoon flight to Phu Ket. Upon arrival, be taken to the hotel for check-in and leisure time. Overnight in Phu Ket
